Schlitterbahn in Kansas City faced litigation and negative publicity for its area park following the death of a year-old boy three years ago on one of its slides, which has since been demolished.
The park continued to operate since that time, but tickets for the season never went on sale. Cedar Fair's proposed deal with Schlitterbahn is subject to regulatory and other approvals. Prosecutors filed criminal charges against Schlitterbahn co-owner Jeff Henry, the designer of Verruckt, the park's operations manager and two maintenance workers, alleging that shoddy planning and maintenance led to Caleb's death.
